Solar panels only tell half the story. The sun doesn't shine at night, and the electricity a panel produces isn't automatically in a form your home appliances can use — that's where batteries and inverters come in. A battery stores extra power generated during the day so it can be used after dark or during load shedding, while an inverter converts the direct current (DC) electricity from panels and batteries into the alternating current (AC) electricity that your home actually runs on. Together, they're what turns a solar panel from a nice idea into a genuinely reliable power source.
